Hi all,
I'm stuck!
Can you tell me how many times it takes for habits to become internalized and let me know the source you got your information from? I'm working on a paper and can't seem to find the information anywhere!
Thanks so much!!!!

Re: Brain Research Help!
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 2:14 PMI have learned that it takes 21 days to break a habit. I believe that I learned that through the work of Gerald Epstein who is an MD with a school in NYC called Kabalah School of LIght, or something like that. He does work in using visual imagery to change the brain. I know he has a website. If you google Gerald Epstein or Jerry Epstein you may come up with more information about his work. He has written several books and it's possible that I learned that from one of them.

Re: Brain Research Help!
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 6:29 PMMy swim coach and the trainer at the gym said 21 days to form a habit. Not exactly scholarly sources, and I suspect they just heard that from someone who heard it from someone who read a self-help book. I don't think there is any set amount of time for every habit... I think it depends on the habit and the cues and goals that form the habit. Here's a pretty good article:
